A Farewell to Blogging
In my last blog I would want to tell the world about the downfall of daycares and babysitters everywhere. It is my belief that many parents who send their children to daycare are not aware of how truly terrible their daycare is. Many daycare facilities have extremely high children to staff ratios and an even higher number have times when children are not being directly supervised by staff for up to many hours in the day. As someone who has worked with many daycares in the area I can safely say that there are too many downfalls within the daycares and babysitters in the Sioux Falls area. I think if parents had a better understanding as to what their children were really doing all day they would think twice before leaving them in poor hands for one more day.

Go To Sleep
In the song “Go To Sleep” the lullaby provided is not very effective in making a baby want to go to sleep. To begin with the tone of the lullaby is angry and loud. It is almost as if the singer is screaming the lullaby at the baby, thus making the child more upset and less able to sleep. One would think that this lullaby would only make the baby cry more and sleep less. The words are not very caring and sweet and are more of a complaint then of an actual lullaby. The words complain that the only thing the baby does is cry but perhaps they have not considered that the baby is crying due to the lullaby that they are screaming.

Cake or Death
The video cake or death can be compared to people getting second chances. In the beginning people were offered between a second chance, cake, or death. Everyone chose that having a second chance was more important and that it was more sought after because it avoided death. However, when it came time to choose between cake, a second chance, and death for the fourth time, it was realized that there was no more cake to choose from. Symbolically we can see this from the perspective that you only get so many second chances, “cake”, before they are gone and you then have to face the consequences, which in this film was death. I think this video sends an important message saying that second chances can be given but only so many times.

A Thank You to my Mother and Father
My mother and father are the two people in my life who have played crucial roles in making me who I am today. I am sure I do not say it enough but I cannot tell them how appreciative I am for the things they have done for me. They have always supported me through school encouraging me to do my best and have always been there when I have wanted to try a new extracurricular. They even pushed me to do some things I wasn’t crazy about doing in order to make me a better person. Looking back on my life I can’t thank my parents enough for making me do the things I did and I can only hope they are proud of the daughter they have raised over the last 20 years.

Liza Gary, New Secretary of Pool
If I was creating a new cabinet position for President Obama that I would be qualified to hold I would create the position of New Secretary of the Pool. I think I would be especially qualified to hold this position because I have been working at a municipal pool for many summers and this year I am the swim lessons coordinator at our pool in Brandon, South Dakota. If I was the Secretary of Pools I would instate rules that insist all children start taking swimming lessons at the age of five. I would also instate a rule that closes all public pools on Saturdays and Sundays so the pool staff can have a social life outside of the ‘pool rats.’ I think this law would help socialize the well known ‘pool rats’ to the outside civilization. Having a New Secretary of the Pool would be beneficial for both pool staff and pool rats everywhere.

Not to Be
Dance has always been a passion of mine. I started dancing in my eighth grade year and I got the opportunity to enjoy it until I was a senior in high school. My dance team traveled to many places including Florida, California, Missouri, Illinois, and Texas. Throughout my years in dance I learned valuable skills that have benefited my life in more areas then just dance. I learned that through hard work you can earn the things you want to achieve. I also learned the value of time commitment and the responsibility of joining a team that you cannot let down. I think many of the values I learned throughout my years of dance have stayed with me until today. The hard work instilled in me is still evident today.

Table for Two
In my opinion, the painting Table for Two portrays the impact that technology has had on the world in the 21st century. I think the painting is trying to get across the message of the harmful effects that technology can have upon us.
We can see that the couple, or I assume this is a couple, is trying to enjoy an evening dinner date however both are engulfed in other conversations on their cell phones. This increase in technology can drive a wedge between two people and take what was once a romantic date night to a night that is interrupted with calls, text messages, and other people. This is a perfect instance of how technology is changing face to face relationships and why people do not interact in person as often anymore.
I think the older waiter in the background is aware of the new technology craze and judging by the look on his face it would be safe to say he understands the complications technology will bring.
